Tokyo, August 4, 2005 - Casio Computer Co., Ltd., has announced plans to make its Taiwan sales company a fully owned subsidiary and step up marketing activities in Taiwan.
In making the sales company a fully owned subsidiary, Casio will acquire additional shares in Taiwan Casio Rising Marketing Ltd., which has hitherto handled sales of Casio consumer products in Taiwan. Taiwan Casio Rising Marketing was established in 1995 as a joint venture with a local company in Taiwan, with Casio holding an 11% equity stake. Accompanying the new investment, the name of Taiwan Casio Rising Marketing Ltd. will be changed to Taiwan Casio Marketing Co., Ltd. The renamed firm will pursue new development as a fully owned subsidiary of Casio Computer Co., Ltd.
Taking advantage of the faster management decision-making that will be possible at the fully owned subsidiary, Casio will expand and build on its distribution network in the growing Taiwan market to step up marketing of its consumer products, including digital cameras, timepieces, and electronic musical instruments.
While planning and developing goods tailored to local tastes and needs, Taiwan Casio Marketing will target sales of 10 billion Yen by fiscal 2008.
