TOKYO, March 31, 2006-Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the establishment of a new subsidiary, Casio Benelux B.V., in the Netherlands. The company, which will promote sales of digital cameras in Europe, will commence operations on April 1.
Casio commenced sales of digital cameras in Europe in 1995. In 2003, the 3x optical zoom model EX-Z3 received the European Digital Mini Camera of the Year Award at the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards 2003/2004. The awards Sponsor EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organization in Europe. The following year the 6.0-megapixel 4x optical zoom model EX-P600 won the 2004/2005 European Digital Compact Camera of the Year award. These and other awards demonstrate the acclaim that Casio digital cameras have won in the European market.
Casio has determined that, in order for it to increase its share of the digital camera market in the European economic zone, which includes so many different cultures, it is essential that sales activities be carried out by a wholly owned sales subsidiary. The establishment of Casio Benelux in the Netherlands will complement the activities of three other companies - Casio Europe GmbH in Germany, Casio Electronics Co., Ltd., in the United Kingdom, and Casio France S.A.
Casio Benelux will work closely with Casio's three other European subsidiaries. By approaching its sales activities in a way that is directly relevant to local conditions, it will contribute to an expansion of the sales of Casio products, driven mainly by digital cameras, in European markets. |
