TOKYO, October 31, 2006 -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the establishment of Casio Latin America, Inc., a new subsidiary in Miami, Florida, in the United States. The new company, whose mission is to expand Casio’s sales in Latin America, will begin operations on November 1, 2006.
The new company will strengthen Casio’s marketing activities in the countries of Latin America where future growth is expected and will market digital cameras and electronic musical instruments to that region in an effort to further increase sales.
The Latin American digital camera market continues to grow at an annual rate of 20% to 30%. More than five million cameras are expected to be sold in the region in 2007. The electronic musical instrument market is also expected to grow because of the strong musical inclination of the Latin American population.
Miami serves as a gateway to the countries of Latin America, and is known to be an important financial distribution center for Latin American businesses. By conducting operations from Miami, which offers easy access in terms of both time zone and distance, Casio can further cultivate the Latin American market and promote the permeation of the Casio brand in that region.
