TOKYO, October 5, 2007 -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today released its Corporate Report 2007, which provides details on the company’s recent initiatives in the area of corporate social responsibility as well as a profile of the company’s business operations and main products.
Casio is actively engaged in CSR initiatives as a key component of its management and is also striving to contribute to society by creating new products never seen before. In the first half of the Corporate Report 2007, a corporate profile is provided covering the company’s business operations and main products. In the second half, the CSR Highlights section outlines the company’s unique CSR initiatives. Additional information on CSR activities is provided in subsequent sections for each stakeholder group: CSR Management, Casio and the Market, Casio and the Global Environment, Casio and Employees, and Casio and Society.
The content and design of the corporate report have been improved since last year. The 2007 edition features more comments and snapshots from employees and other stakeholders in order to convey Casio’s approach to CSR initiatives, while the expanded use of figures, tables, and photographs makes the content more accessible. Both print and Web versions of the report have been released, and detailed supplementary data is also available in the online reference materials.

CSR Highlights
This section covers Casio’s sponsorship of the Kids’ ISO 14000 Program in the United States, which teaches children about protecting the environment in order to raise their ecological awareness. Casio’s environmental activities in the office are also featured here. It also describes how the Hachioji R&D Center is engaged in energy-saving activities through high-efficient thermal storage tanks, a natural ventilation system, lighting control, and air-conditioning control based on weather forecast data.
Casio and the Market
This section introduces mechanisms for sending customer comments as feedback to the relevant Casio departments through the corporate intranet, as well as an external Support website that provides customers with information that enables them to use their Casio products with confidence. The section also provides information on improvements to electronic dictionaries, featured as an example of universal design efforts that make products easier for everyone to use. It also features antenna and wireless technologies built into solar-powered radio-controlled watches and cellular phones, as examples of R&D activities to create next-generation products.
Casio and the Global Environment
The energy required for a single silica light bulb is actually able to power 6.75 million solar-powered radio-controlled watches. Using simple, familiar examples such as this, the global environment section outlines Casio’s initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of its products. As part of initiatives for green procurement, this section also reports on the start of operations for the GP-Web system to collect environmental data from suppliers.
