Q1. Why can't I establish a USB connection?

Windows 98 and Me Users
If USB cannot be activated because the Windows 2000 USB Filter Driver is installed on Windows 98 or Me
Installing the Windows 2000 USB Filter Driver on a computer running Windows 98 or Me will make USB connection impossible, even if the Windows 98/Me USB driver is installed correctly. Use the following procedure to remove the Windows 2000 USB Filter Driver and then install the Windows 98/Me USB driver.

Do not have the camera connected to your computer with the USB cable when performing the following procedure.
1)
Windows 98
On the "Start" menu, select "Settings," "Folder Options," and then "view."
Windows Me
Open "My Computer," and then click "Tools," "Folder Options," and then "View."

Windows 98
Under "Advanced settings," select the check box next to the "Show all files" item under "Hidden files." Next, clear the check box next to "Hide file extensions for known file types," click [Apply], and then click [OK] (Figure 1).
Windows Me
Under "Advanced settings," select the check box next to the "Show hidden files and folders" item under "Hidden files and folders." Next, clear the check box next to "Hide file extensions for known file types," click [Apply], and then click [OK] (Figure 2).

Click "My Computer," the C: drive, and then "Windows."

Open the "Inf" folder and then the "Other" folder.

In the "Other" folder, do you see a file named "CASIO COMPUTER CO.,LTD Qv2kux.inf" (Figure 3)?

Select the "CASIO COMPUTER CO.,LTD Qv2kux.inf" file, right-click, and then select "Delete" on the shortcut menu that appears (Figure 4).

In response to the confirmation dialog box that appears, click [Yes] (Figure 5).

Use the USB cable to connect the camera to your computer.

Turn on the camera. Open "My Computer" and check to make sure there is no icon indicating a USB connection.
10) On the "Start" menu, select "Settings," "Control Panel" (Figure 6), "System" (Figure 7), and then "Device Manager" (Figure 8).

11) Select "View devices by type," select "!CASIO DIGITAL CAMERA" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers," and then click [Remove] (Figure 9).

12) In response to the "Confirm Device Removed" dialog box that appears (Figure 10), double-check to make sure that the correct device driver name is selected, and then click [OK].

13) After driver deletion is complete, turn off the camera.
o With some camera models, the power switch may be disabled. In this case, disconnect the USB cable.
14) Install the USB driver from the bundled CD-ROM. Do not disconnect the USB cable linking the camera to the computer until installation is complete. After installation is complete, restart your computer and turn the camera back on (or reconnect the USB cable). This causes the "Updating hardware information database" dialog box to appear, indicating that auto setup is being performed.
o If you already have the USB driver that comes on the bundled CD-ROM installed, turn on the camera and connect it to your computer.

15) Open "My Computer" and check to make sure that a "Removable Disk" icon (Figure 11) is present.
