If you are having a problem other than 1) through 3) |
Improperly installing the USB driver or interrupting installation part way through can cause a question mark or
exclamation point to appear in front of the CASIO driver name (?CASIO QV DIGITAL or !CASIO DIGITAL CAMERA).
If this happens, use the procedure below to install the Windows 2000 USB Filter Driver (Qv2kux.exe).
| 1) |
Use the USB cable to connect the camera to your computer. |
| 2) |
Turn on the camera. Open "My Computer" and check to make sure there is no icon indicating a USB connection. |
| 3) |
On the "Start Menu," select "Control Panel" (Figure 1), "Performance and Maintenance," "System," "Hardware,"
and then "Device Manager" (Figure 2).

In the list, do you see any CASIO driver name with a question mark (?) or explanation point (!) in front of it
(Figure 3)? |

| 5) |
Turn off the camera.
| o |
With some camera models, the power switch may be disabled. In this case, disconnect the USB cable. |
| 6) |
Does the CASIO driver name with the question mark or exclamation point (?CASIO QV DIGITAL, !CASIO DIGITAL
CAMERA, etc.) disappear from the "View devices by type" list (Figure 4)? |

After confirming that the problem CASIO device driver is deleted, turn off the camera (or disconnect the USB cable),
and then restart your computer.
| 11) |
Go to the CASIO Website and download the Windows 2000 USB Filter Driver (Qv2kux_e.exe).
| 12) |
Double-click the compressed file that you downloaded (Qv2kux_e.exe) to extract it. Extracting the file will create
a folder named "Qv2kux_3" (Figure 7), which contains the following files: Qv2kux.inf, Qv2KUX.SYS, readme.txt.

Click "My Computer," "C drive," and then "Windows," and then open the "Inf" folder.
| 17) |
Copy the "usbstor.inf" file (Figure 9) to the Windows desktop.
| |
Important! |
| |
The following steps will deregister the CASIO digital camera from the Windows XP mass storage standard USB
driver. A typing mistake can cause you to lose the use of other USB devices. Note that you make the
following changes at your own risk. If you experience problems after performing the following steps, overwrite
your "usbstor.inf" with the copy you made to your Windows desktop.
