[B] If you cannot communicate at all |
| 1)
|
Check the status
of the Wrist Camera.
Your Wrist Camera must be in the "REMOTE" IR COM mode to
perform data communication with a computer. Is "REMOTE"
shown on the display of your Wrist Camera?
Also, note that your Wrist Camera will not enter the IR COM mode if
its battery is low. If you suspect this might be the cause of the
problem, try replacing the battery with a new one. |
|
2)
|
Is some other application
using your computer's IR port or serial port?
Data communication using WQV Link 3.0 software will not be possible
if your IR port is set up for data communication by a PDA link application
(such as ActiveSync for Windows CE), even if that application is not
currently running. In this case, you need to disable use of IR data
communication port by the application that is occupying it.
If you are using the PAD-2B 9-pin serial IR adapter, any PDA link,
digital camera link, fax, MIDI, or other similar application software
or driver occupying a port may issue interrupts that make it impossible
for the WQV Link 3.0 software to run properly. In this case, you need
to disable use of serial port by the application that is occupying
it. |
Important!
After you set up a COM port for the PAD-2B IR
adapter, other application software that uses the same COM port may
not operate properly even after you disconnect the PAD-2B IR adapter.
If this happens, perform the following steps to disable the IR adapter
when you want to use the other application. |
| |
 |
 |
|
1.
|
Select [ Start ]
[ Settings ]
[ Control Panel ]. |
|
2.
|
Double-click the [System] icon. |
|
3.
|
Click the [Device Manager] tab. |
|
4.
|
In the Device Manager list, double-click [Network
adaptors]. |
|
5.
|
In the Network adaptors list, double-click
"ESI-9680 XTNDAccess Serial Infrared Device" |
| 6.
|
Select the [General] tab. |
| 7.
|
Under, [Device usage], select [Disabled
in this hardware profiles]. |
| 8.
|
This causes your system to restart. |
| 9.
|
When you want to use the IR adapter again,
perform the same procedure to uncheck [Disabled in this hardware
profiles] under [Device usage]. |
|
| 3)
|
Put the Wrist Camera in
the "REMOTE" IR COM mode and then position the Wrist Camera's
IR port so it is close to the computer's IR port.
If there is a "Wireless Link" icon on your Windows Me taskbar,
it means that your IR driver is installed correctly. If there is no
response at all, it may mean that the IR driver is not installed correctly.
Perform the steps under "Check this first." If those do
not work, try re-installing the driver. |
 |
 |
|
 |
 |
| [C] If
data communication stops part way through or is unstable |
1)
|
Sunlight, fluorescent
lighting, or other types of lighting can interfere with IR data communication.
Perform your IR data communication in an area that is not exposed
to such lighting. |
|
2)
|
Interference from the
remote control units of a TV or another appliance can interfere with
IR data communication. Keep such remote-controlled devices away from
the IR port of your computer. |
| 3)
|
Data communications problems
can result when the IR ports are not the correct distance from each
other.
The proper distance required between IR ports depends on the device
you are communicating with. See the documentation that comes with
the other device for more information. |
| 4)
|
Is IrTran-P being used?
If so, you must turn it off. |
| |
 |
 |
|
1.
|
Select [ Start ]
[ Settings ]
[ Control Panel ]. |
|
2.
|
Double-click the [Scanner and Camera]
icon. |
|
3.
|
If you can see a [WIA IrTran-P Camera Device]
item, delete it. |
|
| 5)
|
Are you using a screen
saver?
Data communication can be interrupted by a screen saver or other software
that forces an interrupt during data communication. In the worst case,
such an interrupt can damage your computer or Wrist Camera. Because
of this, you should always disable your screen saver whenever using
WQV Link 3.0. |
| 6)
|
Anti-virus software, file
utilities, and other resident software can generate interrupts that
interfere with or even interrupt data communication. If this happens,
quit the resident software applications. See the user documentation
that comes with your applications for information about how to quit
them. See the documentation that came with your computer or contact
the manufacturer of the software for more information. |
| 7)
|
Notebook computers and
other types of computers are equipped with power save functions, which
cut off power to the COM ports, making data communication impossible.
If this happens, turn off the power save function. For information
about checking or changing the status of your computer's power save
function, see its user documentation or contact the manufacturer.
|
|
