TOKYO, June 30, 2020 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. implemented the following organizational restructuring on June 1, 2020 with the aim of upgrading its business, work and workstyle as well as becoming a sustainable company adapted to a post-COVID-19 society.
Main Points of the Organizational Restructuring
- The Corporate Management Division has been split up and reorganized into an organization for creating a new corporate future. The Division was reorganized into the Future Development Hub, which promotes reform based on medium- to long-term themes, the Corporate Innovation Office, which resolves company-wide issues through structural reform and system construction, and the Corporate Management Department, which conducts business operations from a medium-term perspective starting from the current fiscal year. This has strengthened the structure so that a company-wide transformation can be achieved.
- The Language Education Business Unit, the Educational Computer Business Unit, and the DPJ Business Unit at the Business Strategy Headquarters have been consolidated in the Educational Business Unit in order to reinforce strategy in the education business, which includes responding to rapidly expanding online education.
- The Product Development Headquarters has been restructured from a structure organized by product item into one organized by function. This maximizes development efficiency by utilizing the technology and development resources possessed by individual product item for all product items. At the same time, the aim is to introduce a producer system that seamlessly promotes development of each product item across functional organizations, strengthening development functions.
- The Business & Technology Development Center has been split up, and a separate Sports & Healthcare Incubation Center has been newly established in order to commercialize the sports health business at an early stage.
- The Digital Marketing Department has been newly established to realize new marketing methods that use data and digital technology, creating a structure for providing value from the user’s perspective.
- In order to strengthen ESG-based management, the General Affairs Department has been renamed the ESG & General Affairs Department.

Business Strategy Headquarters
- The Language Education Business Unit, the Educational Computer Business Unit, and the DPJ Business Unit have been consolidated in the Educational Business Unit in order to strengthen the education business.
- The Language Education Products Marketing Department, the Educational Computer Marketing Department, and the Projection Products Marketing Department have been established under the Educational Business Unit.

Development Headquarters
- The development organization has been restructured from one organized by product item into one organized by function with the establishment of the Development Promotion Unit, the Application Development Unit, the Platform Development Unit, the Mechanism Development Unit, the Quality Assurance Unit, and the Design Unit. A producer system has also been introduced to implement development seamlessly across the function-based development structure.
- The Planning Department, the Project Management Department-1, the Project Management Department-2, the Advanced Development Department, and the Administration Department have been established under the Development Promotion Unit.
- The Department-1, the Department-2, and the Department-3 have been established under the Application Development Unit.
- The Department-1, the Department-2, the Department-3, and the Department-4 have been established under the Platform Development Unit.
- The Department-1, the Department-2, and the Mechanism Technology Department have been established under the Mechanism Development Unit.
- The Quality Planning Department, the Hardware Quality Assurance Department, and the Software Quality Assurance Department have been established under the Quality Assurance Unit.
- The Design Department, Watches & Wearables, the Product Design Department, and the Communication Design Department have been established under the Design Unit.
Business & Technology Development Center/Sports & Healthcare Incubation Center
- In order to commercialize the sports health business at an early stage, the Business & Technology Development Center has been split up, and a separate Sports & Healthcare Incubation Center has been newly established.
- The Strategic Planning Department, the Business Planning Promotion Department, the Hardware Development Department, the Service Development Department, and the AI Algorithm Development Department have been established under the Sports & Healthcare Incubation Center.
- The structures under the Business & Technology Center have been reorganized into the Imaging Technology Development Unit, the Medical Planning and Development Department, and the Beauty Planning and Development Department. The Technology Development Unit has been eliminated as the system is reorganized.
- The Development Department-1 and the Development Department-2 have been established under the Imaging Development Division.
Production Headquarters
- The quality technology and production technology functions have been centralized at Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd., and the Quality Engineering Management Department and Production Engineering Department have been eliminated in order to strengthen the functions of Yamagata Casio as a mother factory.
- In order to achieve greater efficiency and organizational streamlining, the Supply Chain Control Unit has been eliminated, and the Production Planning Department, the Purchasing Department, and the Logistics Department have been established under the direct control of Production Headquarters.
Global Marketing Headquarters
- In order to further cultivate the overseas education market, the Consumer Products Sales Department and the Projector Department under the Overseas Sales Division have been consolidated, forming the Educational Business Development Department.
- The Marketing & Planning Department has been eliminated, and some of its functions have been shifted to the Digital Marketing Department, which newly established in the Staff Department.
- The Timepiece Sales Promotion Department and the Sales Promotion Department have been renamed the Timepiece Strategic Marketing Communication Department and the Strategic Marketing Communication Department, respectively.
Future Development Hub/Corporate Innovation Office
- In order to create a new corporate future, the functions of the Corporate Management Division have been reorganized, and the Future Development Hub has been newly established as a specialized organization responsible for company reform with themes having a medium- to long-term perspective.
- The Corporate Innovation Office has been newly established as a specialized organization for reform in order to fundamentally review the business operations cycle and strengthen execution capabilities for management plans.
- The Corporate Management Division has been eliminated as the functions are reorganized, and the Corporate Management Department has been made the organization responsible for promoting business operations from a medium-term perspective starting from the current fiscal year.
Digital Marketing Department
- The Digital Marketing Department has been newly established in order to promote digital transformation and realize new marketing methods.
- With the establishment of the new Digital Marketing Department, the Corporate Communications Department has been eliminated, transferring some advertising functions to a separate section.
ESG and General Affairs Department
- In order to strengthen ESG-based management, the General Affairs Department has been renamed the ESG & General Affairs Department.
