Notice of Personnel Changes and Organizational Restructuring

TOKYO, April 13, 2021 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the following personnel changes and organizational restructuring on March 30, 2021. Details are below.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has assigned authorities and clarified responsibilities for each officer, appointed new executive officers, and updated the responsibilities of some to accompany its new organizational structure. The aim of these changes is to build a robust management matrix with business and function dimensions. The company carried out the organizational restructuring detailed below as of April 1 in order to move forward with the revolutions in the areas of product/business, work, and workstyle that it has been pursuing for some time, but even more efficiently and powerfully.

Main Points of the Organizational Restructuring

  • In order to strengthen business operations, the Timepiece Business Unit, the Educational Business Unit, the EMI Business Unit, and the Systems Business Unit, which previously were all under the Business Strategy Headquarters, have each been made an independent organization.
  • In order to strengthen capabilities for developing products that create new value, the Development Headquarters has incorporated the Business & Technology Development Center and has been reorganized.
  • In order to promote efficient commercialization through the functional integration of technologies across product items, the new Engineering Headquarters has been established.
  • In order to promote marketing focused on connections with users, expand online sales, and strengthen the GAKUHAN business model as well as implementing these initiatives in each world region, the new Global Marketing and Planning Division has been established under the Global Marketing Headquarters, thereby reorganizing the marketing system.
  • In order to promote company-wide utilization of data and digital technology to achieve business transformation, the new Digital Division has been established to lead digital transformation strategy.

Organizational Structure Based on Organizational Restructuring

Business Strategy Headquarters

  • The Timepiece Business Unit, the Educational Business Unit, the EMI Business Unit, and the System Business Unit, which were previously under the Business Strategy Headquarters, have each been made an independent organization. The Business Strategy Headquarters has been eliminated.

Development Headquarters

  • The Business & Technology Center has been consolidated with the Development Headquarters, and the Business & Technology Center has been eliminated.
  • The Imaging Technology Development Unit, and the unit’s Planning Department and Development Department, have been established at the Development Headquarters.
  • The Projection Planning and Development Department, the Medical Planning and Development Department, and the Beauty Planning and Development Department have been established at the Development Headquarters.
  • The Development Unit-1 and under it, the Department-1, the Department-2, the Department-3, and the Department-4, have been established at the Development Headquarters.
  • The Development Unit-2 and under it, the Department-1, the Department-2, and the Department-3, have been established at the Development Headquarters.
  • The Advanced Development Department has been split off from the Development Promotion Unit at the Development Headquarters and turned into an organization under the direct control of the Development Headquarters.

Engineering Headquarters

  • The new Engineering Headquarters has been established.
  • The Development Promotion Unit at the Development Headquarters has been transferred to the Engineering Headquarters, and the Planning Department, the Project Management Department-1, the Project Management Department-2, and the Administration Department have been established under the Development Promotion Unit. The new Development Department has been established under the unit.
  • The Mechanism Development Unit at the Development Headquarters has been transferred to the Engineering Headquarters, and the Department-1, the Department-2, and the Mechanism Technology Department have been established under the Mechanism Development Unit.
  • The Quality Assurance Unit at the Development Headquarters has been transferred to the Engineering Headquarters, and the Quality Planning Department, the Hardware Quality Assurance Department, and the Software Quality Assurance Department have been established under the Quality Assurance Unit.
  • The Design Unit at the Development Headquarters has been transferred to the Engineering Headquarters, and the Design Department, Watches & Wearables, the Product Design Department, and the Communication Design Department have been established under the Design Unit.

Global Marketing Headquarters

  • The new Global Marketing and Planning Division has been established under the Global Marketing Headquarters, and the Timepiece Marketing Department, the Musical Instrument and Educational Marketing Department, and the Marketing Support Department have been established under the Global Marketing and Planning Division.
  • The Domestic Sales Division at the Global Marketing Headquarters has been reorganized, and the Timepiece Sales and Planning Department, the Educational & Solution Sales and Planning Department, the EMI Sales and Planning Department, the Online Business Sales and Planning Department, the Distribution Business Sales and Planning Department, the System Products Sales Department, and the Sales Management Business Products Sales Department have been established under the Domestic Sales Division. The System Planning and Marketing Department has been eliminated as functions are reorganized.
  • The Overseas Sales Division at the Global Marketing Headquarters has been reorganized, and the Timepiece Sales and Planning Department, the Educational Sales and Planning Department, the EMI Sales and Planning Department, and the Sales Department have been established under the Overseas Sales Division.

Digital Division

  • The Digital Marketing Department and the Information Technology & Engineering Department have been consolidated to establish the new Digital Division. The DX Strategy Department, the Information Technology & Engineering Department, and the Digital Co-creation Department has been established under the Digital Division.

Finance Division

  • The Accounting Department, the Finance and Treasury Department, and the Legal Department under the Finance Division have been made independent organizations, and the Finance Division has been eliminated.
