Notice of Organizational Restructuring

TOKYO, August 7, 2024 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the following organizational restructuring on March 25, 2024. 

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has reviewed its business portfolio and strengthened its business implementation structure with the aim of becoming a company that creates demand. For the new organizational structure, Casio carried out the organizational restructuring detailed below as of April 1.

Main Points of the Organizational Restructuring

  • In the core businesses (timepieces, scientific calculators, and electronic musical instruments), which have a stable profit base, Casio aims for business growth with a matrix-based organizational structure in which business units in the business dimension and development, sales and marketing departments in the function dimension work together.
  • In the strategic businesses (education apps and HR solutions), which are growth market areas, Casio has reorganized to form an agile organizational structure that integrates business operations and functions from development through sales in order to strengthen recurring business, primarily software, and increase profitability. 
  • In the system business, Casio has shifted to an organizational structure that clarifies responsibility by business category.
  • Casio has reviewed the roles and functions of the Business Innovation Center of the Development Headquarters as well as the NB Center with the aim of quickly launching new businesses.  
  • Casio is working to strengthen global risk management and accelerate reform of operations in the Global Marketing Headquarters.
  • Casio aims to expand direct e-commerce sales and promote operational streamlining with the establishment of the new Digital Innovation Headquarters.

     

The organizational structure changes associated with the above restructuring are as follows.

Effective April 1, 2024

Structure after the Organizational Restructuring

|Educational Business Unit

  • In conjunction with the elimination of the EdTech Business Unit and the establishment of the new Educational Business Unit, which handles scientific calculators, the Products Strategy Department of the EdTech Business Unit has been placed under the new Educational Business Unit.

|EdTech Division

  • In conjunction with the elimination of the EdTech Business Unit and the establishment of the new EdTech Division, which handles ClassPd.net and electronic dictionaries, the Domestic Strategy Division of the EdTech Business Unit has been renamed the EdTech Sales Division of the EdTech Division.  
  • The Domestic Educational Sales Department and the Domestic Strategy Department of the Domestic Strategy Division in the EdTech Business Unit have been renamed the Domestic Sales Department and the Sales Strategy Department under the EdTech Sales Division, respectively.
  • The functions of the EdTech Strategy Department of the EdTech Business Unit, and the ClassPad.net development functions of the Development Headquarters have been integrated to create the EdTech Development Department of the EdTech Division.

|SMB Solution Division

  • In conjunction with the elimination of the System Business Unit and the establishment of the new SMB Solution Division which handles the SMB (small- and medium-sized business system) and the SA (electronic registers) categories, the Strategic Marketing Department and Sales Department have been established under the SMB Solution Division.

|NB Center

  • The Development Department–2 of the Business Innovation Center in the Development Headquarters has been placed under the NB Center and renamed the PJ Business Marketing Department.
  • The development functions and some of the organization of the LVI Planning and Development Department of the NB Center have been transferred to the Department 5 of the Development Unit–1 in the Development Headquarters. In conjunction with this, the LVI Planning and Development Department under the NB Center has been renamed the LVI Business Marketing Department.

|Medical Planning and Development Department

  • The Medical Planning and Development Department under the NB Center has been made an independent department.

|Development Headquarters

  • The Department-1 of the Development Unit-2 has been renamed the UX Department in order to strengthen UX development capabilities.
  • The functions of the Department-3 of the Development Unit-2 have been reorganized into the UX Department and the Department-2 under the Development Unit-2.
  • The Department-3 of the Development Unit-2 has been eliminated.

|Global Marketing Headquarters

  • The new Business Process Re-engineering and the Administration Division has been established, and the Business Process Re-engineering and Administration Department and the Domestic Business Operations Department placed under it.
  • The Global Strategy Department of the EdTech Business Unit has been transferred to the Global Marketing and Planning Division and has been renamed the Educational Strategy Department of the Global Marketing and Planning Division.
  • The Musical Instrument Marketing Department of the Global Marketing and Planning Division and the Global Strategic Planning Department of the Sound Business Unit have been integrated and have been renamed the EMI Strategy Department of the Global Marketing and Planning Division.

|General Affairs Department

  • Some of the functions of the ESG & General Affairs Department have been reviewed, and the department has been renamed the General Affairs Department.

|Digital Innovation Headquarters

  • The Digital Division has been reorganized and the new Digital Innovation Headquarters has been established.
  • The D2C Strategy Division of the Digital Division has been renamed the Marketing Technology Division of the Digital Innovation Headquarters.
  • The UX Platform Department and the UX Management Department have been established under the Marketing Technology Division.
  • The Integration Platform Department of the Digital Division has been reorganized into the IT Solution Promotion Department and the Global IT Strategy Department, both under the Digital Innovation Headquarters.
