Casio Wins Pentawards 2025 for Watch and Calculator Packaging
G-SHOCK Brings Company First Gold Award
October 6, 2025

TOKYO, October 6, 2025 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today that its watch and calculator packaging designs*1 have won awards in the Professional Concept category for prototypes at Pentawards 2025, the world’s leading packaging design competition.
*1 These are prototype packages that differ from current retail packaging.
Driven by its purpose — “Through the power to put wonder at hand, bring new levels of joy to lives one by one” — Casio has consistently delivered innovative and compelling products and services that bring positive change to society. Given that design plays a crucial role in the company’s products and services, Casio has been entering the Pentawards Professional Concept category since 2020 as part of its commitment to fostering designers’ innovative thinking and skills through open creative exploration.
At Pentawards 2025, the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch packaging, “Resilient Packaging,” earned the first-ever gold award for the company, and the calculator packaging, “HOOOOT Owl Kids’ Calculator,” received a bronze award.
■Resilient Packaging
As a new interpretation of the “toughness” that G-SHOCK has pursued, this packaging structure employs the Miura fold*2 to express resilience — the ability to respond flexibly to impact. The design features a stylish approach where the product is placed inside the Miura-folded paper packaging that expands and contracts and is secured with a signature G-SHOCK octagonal ring.
*2 A paper-folding technique derived from aerospace structural engineering that enables wide expansion using minimal force.
■“HOOOOT” Owl Kids’ Calculator
This charming calculator packaging features an owl — a symbol of intelligence — and is designed to invite children to calculate. The unique and colorful design incorporates the familiar calculator key symbols (+, −, ×, ÷) into the owl’s eyes and feather patterns.
